Vegan life: What was viewed with suspicion by many people just a few years ago, ridiculed and classified as a passing phenomenon, has rapidly developed into a lifestyle.
What does it mean to live vegan?
It means a life without any animal suffering, at least if you follow all the rules. This includes a purely plant-based diet, no dairy products, no eggs, no honey. No textiles, clothing or accessories made from wool, silk, fur, leather, feathers or down. No processed foods that contain animal ingredients of any kind, for example collagen or galantine.
This sounds difficult and exhausting at first, but on closer inspection and with a little practice, it is easier than you might think. The plant world has a lot to offer for our diet and the range of products, including processed vegan products, is becoming increasingly diverse. There are now countless guides and books with recipes and helpful tips on how to eat a balanced and healthy diet.
But there is one thing you should definitely bear in mind!

If you are unsure whether a vegan diet is the right way to go, you should seek medical advice. If you have health restrictions or have to take medication, you should not decide on your own. Some people find it easier if they first adopt a vegetarian lifestyle. Taking baby steps, so to speak. Others, on the other hand, can easily switch their diet and consumption to vegan from one day to the next.
It always depends on our motivation and how strong our will is.
Why do we want to become vegan?
- For the animals?
- For us and our well-being?
- For the preservation of nature and our habitat?
- For all that?
If we are clear about the reasons for switching to a vegan lifestyle, this is the first step in this direction. However, if we don’t manage it every day, that’s not a bad thing. A guilty conscience is not helpful. The thought that I’ll do better tomorrow does. Every step, no matter how small, is a success.
The American professor and author Dr. Maya Angelou once said: ” Do it as well as you can until you know better. When you know better, do better.” Wise words.
We are human and our lives are an unstoppable journey towards knowledge.
I wish everyone good luck on this journey.
